Keeping Children Safe in Education
STARMAT Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy - 2024-2025
In most circumstances, the school will endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents/carers about their child/ren. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Child Protection procedures). The school will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents/carers.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy 2026-2027
Safeguarding Training Information
Our staff team receive annual safeguarding training and regular updates throughout the year and the Senior Leadership Team conduct regular monitoring checks with staff to ensure they understand the training and information provided. The team received their latest safeguarding training on Monday 7th September 2026.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Laura Ward, regularly attends regional safeguarding webinars, face-to-face training sessions and is also a part of the DSL YLT network.
The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, Mr Steve Woodhouse, Mr Chris Rushworth, Miss Gemma Bowling and Mrs Bobbi Walker.
